Neil Hetherington oils

Neil Hetherington lives half the year in St. Ives and the other half in Australia, where he is a Fellow of The Royal Art Society. He was recently (2022) awarded the prestigious Thora Unger Memorial Award from this well-established national art society. In 2016, he also won their coveted national medal of distinction. Neil defines his method as “tonal impressionism”, a style taught by Graeme Inson and Max Meldrum. Neil’s colour key takes this tonalism a tad higher and uses his knowledge of light to lift his colour effectively. The higher key of his colour brings more life and dynamism to his outdoor paintings. His St. Ives and Cornish work is exclusive to Art House Gallery, St. Ives.
