David French employs a unique look in his St. Ives paintings. Often, they are painted from “above”, looking down, looking into the scene. His perches offer a distinct vantage point. The translucent green tones often found in his work are intentionally filled with light to create the unusual and almost Mediterranean colours found in the St. Ives water. He often offers an accent in red and puts in a pure personal touch with a small self-portrait of himself paddling in his kayak or dinghy within the waters. His St. Ives work is exclusive to Art House Gallery.
