Michelle Golias

Michelle Golias is a New York City based oil painter whose still-life painting offers peace and gentle inspiration. Her small gems of still-life are visual meditations. With ease, she captures natural light on her subjects, which are painted from life, not from memory. The light source playing over her subjects can seem to shift from moment to moment. She finds a soft serenity in simple, yet special objects. She can stop time for you with an undefinable experience that feels close to the heart. Michelle is a life member of the Art Students League in New York City and a recent member of the prestigious Salamagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in New York. She resides on the Upper West side of Manhattan, near Central Park, in a flat with a fantastic bay window. There she can perch desired pieces, like her special china and fruits, to let natural daylight wash over them. Paintings both finished and in progress are found throughout her studio. She has spent time with us in St. Ives, painting with light streaming into our own wonderful windows at Art House Gallery.
