Phil Creek

Phil studied Fine Art Painting receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Manchester University before undertaking post-graduate study in the History of Art at Birmingham University. He worked as a County Art Adviser until 2011. He is now a full-time painter living in The West Country.

Exhibitions include The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter; The Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA), Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) and Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) at The Mall Gallery, London; The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol (RWA), Kennaway House, Sidmouth; The Penwith, St Ives; Falmouth Art Gallery and The Art House, St Ives.

Phil is an Honorary Member and Chair of The South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc) and he is an exhibiting member of The National Acrylic Painters Association (NAPA).

Artist Statement. – Phil’s painting explores the landscapes and seascapes of the southwest of England and the East Coast of America. He often paints en plein air, on the beach or in the landscape, Phil also undertakes his oil and larger acrylic paintings in his recently converted home studio. The artists he admires most include Fred Cuming, Edward Seago, Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper and the English greats JMW Turner and John Constable.
